Set Up MFA on a Secondary Device Before Getting a New Phone
Announcement Body
Listen to this announcement
Getting a new phone is exciting, but before you turn in or replace your current device, take one quick step to guarantee you always have access to your ACE account.
Set Up Multifactor Authentication (MFA) on Multiple Devices
Follow these step-by-step instructions to add MFA on a secondary device, such as a tablet, or set up a biometric authenticator. Having Okta Verify, or another MFA method, installed on another device prevents you from having to contact the IT Help Desk if you replace or lose your mobile phone.
“MFA resets are consistently at the top of our list when it comes to Help Desk requests,” says Laura Gardner, IT Help Desk Manager “If people already have Okta Verify on a secondary device, they do not need to call the IT Help Desk to set up their MFA on their new phone.”
Use Secondary Device to Add MFA on New Phone
Although the Okta Verify app will transfer over to your new device, you will be logged out and asked to sign in using your ACE login. If you have Okta Verify set up on a secondary device, you can use it to verify your identity when logging in again. Otherwise, you will be locked out of your ACE account until your MFA is reset.
If you get locked out of your ACE account, you will need to call or visit the IT Help Desk. MFA resets cannot be done through email and will require you to verify your identity.
