Office of Accessibility Resources Joins UNLV IT

Listen to this announcement

Accessibility isn’t just about meeting regulations or checking compliance boxes; it’s about people. That means ensuring that every member of our community, regardless of ability, can learn, work, create, and connect without barriers. When we design with accessibility in mind, we open doors to opportunity, foster belonging, and help our students, faculty, and staff participate fully and meaningfully in all they do.

At UNLV, information technology (IT) has long been a strong partner in making our campus more accessible. Many of our colleagues across different units have been recognized as Rebel Accessibility Heroes for their dedication to removing barriers and championing inclusive design. This work matters because it changes lives, and it’s work we are committed to deepening.

To build on this foundation, we are pleased to announce that the Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR) has officially joined UNLV IT. The OAR has been doing this work for years at UNLV, and we are honored to be able to share in this important service for our campus.

By bringing our teams together, we believe we can:

  • Integrate accessibility more deeply into our technology training and support
  • Deliver just-in-time accessibility learning at the point of need
  • Strengthen our role in software purchasing reviews to ensure accessibility from the start
  • Leverage technology more effectively to enhance accessibility in classrooms, online spaces, and university services
  • Expand collaboration with faculty, staff, and students to build a culture of inclusive design

We’re excited about this opportunity and invite you to join us in welcoming:

  • Rex Suba, Director of Office of Accessibility Programs
  • Bridgette Perreault, Accessibility Conformance & Design Specialist
  • Monica Sinha, Graduate Research Assistant

The Accessibility team will be housed in the Central Desert Complex – Building 02.

If you or your unit have partnership opportunities, needs, questions, or concerns, you’re encouraged to reach out to Bob Soulliere.

Welcome to UNLV IT, OAR!  We’re glad you’re here and grateful for the work you’re doing!
