UNLV IT CIO and CISO getting pied at Pie on Pida

On March 21, over 50 pies were smashed in Kivanc Oner and Vito Rocco’s faces at this year's annual Pie on Pida event. The event was a part of Rebels Give, a day that allows people to donate to different programs and causes around campus.

Oner, vice president for digital transformation and chief information officer, participated in the event as a way to encourage others to donate to the university’s technology loan program which allows students who don’t have access to personal technology to borrow laptops for the entire semester at no cost. Donations from Rebels Give Pie on Pida will help replace older technology and expand resources for the program.

Rocco, chief information security officer, joined Oner in the event, encouraging the UNLV community to switch their multifactor authentication (MFA) to Okta Verify, a more simple and secure way to verify your identity when logging into your ACE account. Pie after pie, Rocco was able to make the university campus more cybersafe while at the same time raising donations for the technology loan program as well.
