Classroom Support Technician (CTS)

Job Responsibilities/Details
  • Installation and support of various Computer, Audio/Visual, and IT equipment in classrooms around campus; including Win10 desktop workstations, web and document cameras, Blu-ray players, video projectors, UNLV licensed software, microphones and other related technologies.
  • General help desk support including client correspondence via email and phone, generating help requests, ticket tracking, documentation and follow up.
  • Conduct training sessions with university instructors, as needed, on proper operation of classroom technology equipment and services.
  • Interaction with senior members of the team including other OIT departments, as needed.
  • Offer consistently excellent customer support and service.
  • Good communication, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills are a plus.
  • Abide by all University rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Keep work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Training provided.
  • Many shifts available. Office hours are 8:00a – 10:00p Mon – Thur and 8:00a – 5:00p Friday.
Required Qualifications
  • Be able to meet student worker eligibility criteria, including enrollment in 6 or more credits at UNLV for each semester of employment and a cumulative GPA of 2.0

Computer Lifecycle Technician I

The Computer Lifecycle Technician I is responsible for providing technical support to the UNLV Faculty and Staff with assistance with OIT Computer Lifecycle Management staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing customer service and communicating with team members
  • Delivery and setup of new computer equipment including desktops, laptops, and peripherals
  • Upgrades to current computer systems and software updates
  • Evaluation of surplus equipment and proper sanitization methods to remove data
  • Assisting in the Academic Affairs Computer Replacement Program (AACRP)

Experience with Windows and Macintosh OS is preferred. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have Driver’s license.

The Computer Lifecycle Management office is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Student worker schedule: 20 hours per week during the school semester. Up to 40 hours per week when no classes are in session (depending on availability/need).

Hourly rate starts at $10.25/hr.

Front Desk Assistant

Job Duties

Job duties of the Front Desk Assistant include:

  • Opening the front desk at the start of business
  • Answering the front desk phone and transferring calls as needed
  • Checking and distributing the office mail
  • Document deliveries/ Office Runs
  • Assist with on boarding new student employee hires
  • Maintaining the Supply Room inventory
  • Maintaining the distribution of the Office Carts
  • Closing down the front desk at the close of business

Requirements:

For all Domestic Undergraduate student employees:

  • Must have a minimum of 6 credits per semester
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

For all International Undergraduate student employees:

  • Must maintain work eligibility within the United States
  • Must have a minimum of 12 credits per semester

Instructional Technology Support Assistant

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintenance, upkeep, and operation of implemented lecture capture, Webex video conferencing, and clicker technologies under Office of Information Technology purview
  • Provide training for users on operation of lecture capture equipment, web conferencing technology, and polling clickers upon request • Schedule all recordings in lecture capture equipped classrooms upon request
  • Update, proofread, and edit training guides, training videos, web forms, and other reference materials used by UNLV personnel for lecture capture, video conferencing, and clickers.
  • Inspect lecture capture classrooms regularly to ensure a reliable, “performs as advertised” experience, reporting any issues immediately
  • Work collaboratively with the Classroom Technology Services technicians and the Help Desk for any troubleshooting, appropriate data acquisition, and other tasks
  • Work in an office, classroom, and/or remotely as needs require
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills:Outstanding initiative and reliability

  • Comfortable assimilating technical information and translating it into understandable, relatable terms
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills among a multitude of UNLV personnel
  • An empathic understanding toward the impact of technology issues experienced by patrons
  • A general understanding of the Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android operating systems
  • Adaptable to frequent changes in technology, policies, and location of work environment (remote work, classroom work, etc).
  • Comfortable solving problems under pressure

Special Requirements (preferred, but not critical):

  • Familiarity with lecture capture hardware, software, and workflow (Panopto)
  • Experience with use of Web Conferencing equipment and software (Cisco Webex)
  • Experience with use of, or assistance with, student response systems/Clicker devices (iClicker/Top Hat)
  • General familiarity with audio visual systems, connectivity, pathways, etc.
  • Ability to navigate through, and use, a Learning Management System (Canvas)

Lab Monitor (ITS)

We're always looking for helpful lab monitors. Interested students should have some knowledge of Microsoft Office, Rebelmail, WebCampus, and Web browsers (Firefox, and Internet Explorer). Lab monitors maintain lab security, ensure patrons can access the hardware and software provided within the lab, answer phone calls, monitor printers, and care for the overall appearance of the facility.

This is a good opportunity for you to brush up on your computer skills, help students with computer questions, and get paid for it. Hourly rate starts at $9.75/hr.

RebelCard Office Support

RebelCard is more than official campus identification. Students, Faculty, and Staff can deposit money on their RebelCard and use it as RebelCash for dining on campus, for vending machines, and at a number of restaurants and shops both on and off campus.

RebelCard Office Support is responsible for making and replacing RebelCards and UNLV Student Recreation and Wellness Center cards while providing excellent customer service and promoting meal-plans, dining dollars, and RebelCash products.  Excellent customer service skills are required and cash handling and sales experience is preferred.

The RebelCard office is open:

  • Monday: 8:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m.

SE Student Support Administrator

Systems Engineering is seeking student employees to mentor in the area of systems administration. The candidate will assist the team in exemplifying the following core competencies:

  • Research & Development: The candidate will assist in conducting research on new technologies related to the team projects. They will be expected to provide briefs and reports on their findings to assist the team with decision making. Research will play a key role in the candidate’s development of technical expertise and will be vital in supporting the team’s customers.

Job Duties

SE Student Support Administrator job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactively maintaining communication with customers through phone calls, emails, ticketing system, and in person
  • Performing asset management of hardware and software owned by the team
  • Creating, modifying, and improving systems, process, project, and procedural documentation
  • Maintaining detailed notes and/or meeting minutes of team and customer meetings
  • Level 1 troubleshooting of support requests with the guidance of a senior team member

Student Network Technician (Project Management)

Job Responsibilities/Details

  • Provide Project Managers a range of support services that include the following:
    • Assist with updating project documents
    • Assist with project inspections
    • Assist with creating project documentation / templates / presentations / flowcharts
    • Assist with developing Meeting Minutes
    • Understand / learn the basics of project management
