Equipment

All general purpose classrooms are being designed with the following equipment as standard. Below is a brief description of each of the key items.

Integrated classroom control: All classrooms are controlled through a touch panel or a hard-button interface. Both allow for one button presses to turn on the projector and centralize the switching of sources. The hard-button interface will be going away this summer as our department continues the process of upgrading classroom equipment.

Computer (PC): Classrooms are equipped with a computer and access to the internet. Computers within these classrooms will not require a login.

Document Camera: Similar in function to an overhead transparency projector, the document camera is used to display slides, paper, and 3-D objects using the projector.

DVD Playback: All classroom computers are capable of playing a standard DVD Disk. DVDs created outside of the United States may not play on standard classroom equipment.

Blu-ray: Some classrooms have a Blu-ray player installed in the room. Standard Blu-ray CDs will work in these devices which are controlled through the touch panel.

Laptop Support: Most classrooms include cabling to project video and audio from your laptop through the multimedia projector. Laptop support for PCs and Macintosh computers are provided thru a 15 Pin VGA Connector and Audio Connector. Macintosh computers typically require adaptors which are not provided.

Laptop Support: Most classrooms include cabling to project video and audio from your laptop through the multimedia projector. The cable types are HDMI and VGA with an Aux cable for audio. PLEASE NOTE: OUR DEPARTMENT DOES NOT PROVIDE ADAPTERS. If you require assistance picking the right adapter out, come to our office at CBC B133 or our help line at 702-895-0771.

Microphones: Most classrooms have built-in microphones and some of the larger auditoriums have wireless microphones available. To use the wireless microphone, a key must be checked out through our department. Come to our office to fill out the form for a key.
