Visit the Secure File Transfer page and log in with your UNLVMail email address and ACE password. UNLVMail users do not need to register to create an account because it will automatically check to see if you have a valid UNLVMail email address.
Guest users will need to register for an account on the Secure File Transfer page before they can use the tool. Once registered, guests can log in with their newly created accounts and send files to UNLVMail users
UNLVMail users will need to know their email address and ACE password to access the Secure File Transfer tool. You can reset your own ACE account, or call the IT Help Desk and our help desk staff can reset the password for you.
Guest users can reset the password for the Secure File Transfer tool by using the Password Reset link on the homepage. A new password will be emailed to your email account on record.
Note: this option will not reset a UNLVMail password and is intended for guest accounts.
Is there a limit on the file size that can be transferred?
You can transfer files up to 2 GB in size.
Is it secure?
Yes, it is secure. The Secure File Transfer tool uses strong SSL encryption to transfer all files and uses cryptographically strong random numbers to prevent brute force attacks.
Am I restricted in where I can send my files?
The Secure File Transfer tool works as an extension of UNLV’s email service, and allows our users to send files securely to anyone, anywhere. Guest users of the application, however, may only send files to UNLV users at their @unlv.edu address.
How do I access the Secure File Transfer tool?
You will need your UNLVMail email address and ACE password to access the Secure File Transfer tool. If you cannot sign in, you may need to reset your ACE password, or you call the IT Help Desk at 702-895-0777.
What if I do not have a UNLVMail account? Can I still send files to other UNLV users?
Yes, anyone can register for a Secure File Transfer guest account and use the tool. Guest users may send files to only UNLV addresses, however.
How will I know if the file has been downloaded?
The Secure File Transfer tool will send a return-receipt back to you when a file has been downloaded.
How long will the Secure File Transfer tool keep files that are sent?
Files sent through the Secure File Transfer tool will be kept for a maximum of 7 days.
What file types am I able to send using the Secure File Transfer tool?
You can send most file types, except for those with the following extensions: .exe,.vbs,.pif,.scr,.bat,.cmd,.com,.cpl
What does the "Require Authentication to Download" option for my message mean exactly?
Only authorized recipients may download the file attachment, even if the original download file message is forwarded to another user. If that user tries to download the attachment and wasn't on the original distribution list, the user will receive a message indicating they are not authorized to access the attachment.
