The Classified Staff Council welcomed Eva Marie Perez, personnel technician III for the Office of Information Technology, to its executive committee team. She is the new vice chair, effective July 1, after being elected by the 18-member council.

Some of Perez’s duties include advising and drafting procedures and other documentation to govern and inform the Classified Staff Council; assisting and monitoring council elections; and officiating meetings in the chair’s absence.

Representing classified employees, the council advises the UNLV president on important matters. According to the website, the mission of the group is to create an inclusive, diverse, and collaborative campus community. It serves as a resource for classified employees, provides professional development opportunities, highlights service opportunities, and recognizes and rewards colleagues.

"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to work for the classified staff community,” said Perez. “I hope to achieve meaningful things for our great employees and help them excel in their careers here at UNLV."

Perez will serve a three-year term of office.
