Technology is transforming the campus life experience at UNLV. Digital resources and information are at everyone’s fingertips, shifting how students learn, faculty teach, and staff work. Just take a look around.

But ever wondered who are the talented minds that make these innovations run?

In response, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) is unveiling a new employee video segment this month. Dubbed “Made IT,” the series shines a spotlight on some of the tech gurus and changemakers in the department.

The first episode introduces viewers to Ashbinder Saini. Originally from India, Saini discovered a passion for technology in high school. Now he uses methods he learned with his physics degree to solve computing issues as an IT technician for the IT Help Desk.

“A lot of the work you do in physics is trying to figure out the solutions to problems,” he said. “It's not very obvious the solution to an answer. There are many different ways to do anything, so you have to work on your critical thinking skills, which are the same skills that I apply here at the help desk.”

“Made IT” debuts Sept. 9 on OIT’s social media platforms. Follow the department on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook to tune in the second Monday of each month for a new, exciting episode.
