Sophos Antivirus Support For Windows 7 Expired February 1, 2021

Microsoft stopped issuing security updates for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020 and on February 1, 2021 Sophos Antivirus stopped providing antivirus updates as well.

Computers still using Windows 7 are a serious threat to campus computer security and should be upgraded or replaced immediately to remain in compliance with the computer security policy

If your computer is still using Windows 7:

For computers managed by OIT, contact the IT Help Desk to schedule a remote upgrade to Windows 10. The upgrade will be completed overnight and you do not need to be present during the upgrade.

If the computer is not managed by OIT, please contact the IT Help Desk to make other arrangements for updating the computer. School of Medicine employees should contact SoM technical support for assistance.

If you have specific reasons you cannot upgrade your system, you may submit a request for a policy exception.

If your computer cannot be upgraded, please coordinate with your department to purchase a new computer.

Computers still running Windows 7 may be blocked from accessing the campus network or other internal resources.

If you have any questions, please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.
