All UNLVMail employee email accounts (first.last@ unlv.edu) will require 2-Step Verification by December 15, 2020 as part of our continued effort to enhance campus cybersecurity.
Starting Wednesday, September 16, if you have not already enrolled in 2-Step Verification you will be prompted to enable it when you sign in.
- Log in to your UNLVMail account at gmail.com or any Google site such as drive.google.com.
- Click on the ENROLL button and follow the instructions.
- Generate a list of single-use backup codes to carry with you or keep in a safe place in case you have forgotten/lost your phone.
The enrollment period is from September 16 to December 15.
If you do not enroll in 2-Step Verification by December 15 you will be locked out of your account and will have to contact the IT Help Desk in order to sign back in.
If you are locked out of your account, you will not be able to access Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, or any other G Suite app associated with your UNLVMail account.
2-Step Verification helps secure your email account by requiring you to enter a second verification method, such as a code texted to your cell phone, to log in to your account.
If you have already enrolled in UNLVMail 2-Step Verification, no further action is required, however if you have not generated and saved backup codes we encourage you to do so by following Step 2 of the 2-Step Verification instructions.
Group accounts (e.g., firstname.lastname@example.org) and Rebelmail accounts (@unlv.nevada.edu) will not be required to enable 2-Step Verification at this time.
Campus messages and reminders to individual users will be sent throughout the enrollment period.
If you have any questions or need assistance resetting your 2-Step Verification for UNLVMail, please contact the IT Help Desk.
